Erling Haaland set a new Manchester City goal record as his team beat Bournemouth 4-1 on Saturday to maintain the pressure on leaders Arsenal. The Norwegian striker netted his 27th Premier League goal this season, surpassing Sergio Aguero’s previous high of 26 from 2014-15.
City’s second win in four games moved them two points ahead of Arsenal and kept them within striking distance of the top two. Julian Alvarez, Phil Foden and Chris Mepham also scored as City thrashed Cherries at Bournemo.
Julian Alvarez
Alvarez, 23, was a driving force for City on Sunday and scored from close range after Erling Haaland’s effort had come off the crossbar. This marks his 27th goal this season – more than any City player has scored in one Premier League campaign since Sergio Aguero’s 26 in 2014-15.
City’s win keeps them within two points of title rivals Arsenal in the Premier League table, while Bournemouth are currently 19th. Unfortunately for Pep Guardiola’s side, however, they now have six matches without a clean sheet after Jefferson Lerma’s 83rd minute strike for Bournemouth.
Phil Foden
Manchester City have returned to winning ways at Bournemo, with a 4-1 victory that puts them within two points of Arsenal. Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland scored for City, while Phil Foden added another as City took another step towards their first top-of-the-table finish of the season.
Foden is an attacking midfielder with plenty of pace, who can get behind defenders with clever runs from deep. His passing ranges from accurate to excellent, making him a dangerous asset for teams when given space to work with.
He possesses the speed to be an impressive counterattacking threat, particularly in the left inside channel where his huge stride can speed past players and then turn or shoot with his left foot. Furthermore, his long passes are well crafted so others are left in behind him easily.
Kevin De Bruyne
At Bournemo, the City midfielder was on fire, scoring his 27th goal of the season and breaking Sergio Aguero’s season record for goals scored. Additionally, he played a significant role in Phil Foden’s stunning strike.
De Bruyne began his professional career at Genk in 2009, but was loaned out to Wolfsburg in January 2014. On August 14th 2013 he made his debut for the German club against Hoffenheim and since has become an essential member of their squad.
He has been a Manchester City star since 2015 and is widely considered one of the greatest playmakers in history. In that time, he has won four Premier League titles and the Carabao Cup, as well as being selected four times for PFA team of the year honorees.

Chris Mepham
Pep Guardiola’s men had no problem dispatching Bournemo 4-1 to stay firmly on track in the Premier League title race. Goals from Julian Alvarez, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden highlighted a dominant first-half display that saw City reduce the gap to leaders Arsenal back down to two points.
Haaland extended our lead in the 29th minute with a deft finish after Phil Foden’s intelligent pass. This goal took his tally to 27 goals, surpassing club legend Sergio Aguero’s record of 26 in one season.
Erling Haaland
On Saturday, Erling Haaland equaled Sergio Aguero’s record for most goals scored in a season by scoring twice in Man City’s 4-1 victory at Bournemo. The Norway striker netted his 27th Premier League goal in 24 appearances as Pep Guardiola’s side maintained their title hopes by easily defeating the Cherries.
After two weeks of losing leads against Nottingham Forest and RB Leipzig, City were unstoppable at Dean Court, beginning with Alvarez’s strike. Phil Foden and Haaland added to it before Chris Mepham scored an own goal to complete the scoring.
Haaland has scored 18 times in 11 home league games this season, surpassing Sergio Aguero’s total of 26 goals. Now he needs another two or three goals before the end of the campaign to clinch the title.
